Durham Regional Theatre (DRT) is an intentionally multi-racial and intergenerational theatre in the "little theatre" tradition. We are dedicated to a process of "mentoring" up, involving youth and teens in leadership roles that allow them to work with talented adults to increase their skills.
Our summer theatre camps are a pure delight for all involved. Each camp concludes with a public performance (and "A Play A Day" has a show every afternoon for 5-days!)
Additionally, DRT offers 8-week acting and singing classes in 8-week sessions in the fall, winter and spring each year. Our Main Stage shows and Adult Players Troupe provide families and adults with professional quality performance experiences.
Our commitment to financial accessibility, supported by a Mary Duke Biddle grant in 2014 and a Durham Arts Council grant in 2015, means no one is ever turned away from a DRT educational program or show for want of financial resources. Scholarships are always available.
DRT summer theatre camps have filled up every year since 2014, so register early as you're able and guarantee your family a rewarding creative summer experience.
